Northside Forum: Madison Economic Development Draft Plan

Mar 2008: The City will hold a learning session on March 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at the Lakview Library. Presentation of the Economic Development Draft Plan by Matt Mikolajewski, City of Madison Office of Business Resources will be followed by a Question/Answer discussion session. Come learn about the draft version of the plan and share your questions, comments and suggestions.

Sherman Avenue Resurfacing Meeting

Mar 2008: City Alder Satya Rhodes-Conway will hold a meeting March 12 at 6:30 pm at the Warner Park Center to discuss the planned resurfacing of Sherman Avenue. Construction is scheduled to begin after Rhythm and Booms.


Northport/Warner/Sherman Planning Process

Feb 2008: Congrats to NBA members Julie Savidusky and Karen Thompson for being selected to serve on the Northport/Warner Park/ Sherman Neighborhood plan steering committee. 


NBA helps sponsor Northside Easter Egg Hunt

Feb 2008: Once again, NBA will provide the Easter eggs for the Northside Community Council’s annual  Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 22 at Warner park.  Each year around 400 children come to hunt Easter eggs, win prizes and visit with the Easter Bunny.   The year the Council is asking for additional donations of prizes, cash and volunteer time.   If you’d like to volunteer – please call Rosie at 244-0444.


Breakfast with Santa nets $900 for two area food pantries

Feb 2008: With a major snowstorm hitting the northside on December 1, just as the pancakes were going on the griddle….NBA was still able to raise $900 during our annual breakfast with Santa fundraiser. The money was divided equally and provided to the River Food Pantry and the Lakeview Food Pantry.  Volunteers reported the pancakes were the best yet!


NBA's own Robert Reuter wins 2007 North Star Award

January 2008: Over 120 Northside residents and community members gathered together to honor fellow neighbors at the Fifth Annual North Star Awards on December 7 at Warner Park Community Recreation Center. Read more >>


Business Meet and Greet to be held

Jan 2008: The Four Lakes Business Council will host a Mixer on January 22 at the East Side Club on Atwood Avenue. Members of the Northside Business Association, Far East Side Business Association, East Side Business Assocation and the Monona Chamber of Commerce members are all invited to this meet and greet. Appetizers and music will be provided. The time is 5:00 to 8:30.


6th annual Breakfast with Santa

NBA Madison | Breakfast with SantaThe next Breakfast with Santa, which is sponsored by NBA will be Saturday December 1, 2007 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Kavanaugh's Esquire Club on Sherman Avenue. Tickets this year are $4 for children and $6 for adults. Price includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and juices. All proceeds will be distributed to north side charities.

December 1 is also the Warner Park Holiday Art and Craft Show - so plan on breakfast with Santa and shopping with friends!

Last year we raised over $1,000 in just three hours by serving up delicious pancakes to our special guests. All the proceeds raised were donated to two food pantries on Madison's north side, Lakeview Food Pantry and The River Food Pantry. In addition, guests brought over 150 lbs of canned food that was distributed as well. - See the photos from last year!


City of Madison Business Facade Improvement Grant

Sept 17, 2007: NBA Members are encourage to learn more about the city's facade improvement grant. Businesses located on Sherman Avenue may be eligible to grants up to $10,000 or more (for two sides facing Sherman). For further information please contact Percy Brown at the City of Madison.

The 2008 Northside History Calendars are here

Sept 5, 2007: Hot off the presses, the calendar are ready for sale. The calendar is published by the Northside Planning Council and Northside News and features images of Northside history, including Rocky Roost (the sunken cottage island) and Northgate Shopping Center (when coal silos stood on the site).

Calendars are $12 each, cash or check, and are a fundraiser for the Northside Planning Council and Northside News. How to get one: Pick one up at NPC's office - call Dana at 661-0060, ext. 1 to make arrangements and for directions. Also, look for them at Northside businesses, Lakeview Library, Northside Farmers Market and Northside organizations.
